Office Hours:
- Available by appointment most days,
evenings and weekends. I usually am in the office late morning
and in the afternoon Monday and Wednesday.
-
Study and sermon-writing day is Thursday.
- Regular Sabbath day is Friday.
Though
this ministry position is budgeted at ¾ time, please do
call me in the event of a pastoral emergency or community
crisis.
If I am out of town, staff and trustees can reach me. Jan Wolff
is chair of the Laity Caring Network; if you reach her first,
she can let me know as well as arrange support. Let us know if
you’d like to be involved in this caring ministry.
I’ll be in Boston May 21-23 for a meeting of the Fund for a Just Society.
Please see my phone numbers and email adresses in the Uni-Sun, Sunday
Bulletin, or MVUUF Directory. For a faster reply, or if you think
I haven’t seen your email, please call.

Scheduling Meetings: When
you want to schedule a meeting in the building, especially on a Sunday
morning when many meetings occur, please communicate that to the Office
Manager, and she will put you on the calendar and assign you a room.
You may make a room request, but it’s her job to make the final
determination. Requests made by e-mail will be answered
during her next office hours. A folder will be on the desk labeled
Calendar Requests. If you put a note in that folder, she will respond
by email or phone with confirmation. If she doesn't get back to
you quickly, please check.
Events placed on the calendar will be shown in
the calendars in the Sunday bulletin and on the website.

When You Want to Use the Kitchen:
- If
your group or committee is planning a future event that involves use of
the kitchen and its equipment, please consult with Nancy Buckman ahead
of time. As chair of the Kitchen Committee, she would like
to make sure you know how to use the facilities and where to find
everything you need. (There was some reorganization in the
kitchen over the summer.)
-
Any group who wishes to use the kitchen for their event should
contact the Activities Chair or Kitchen Chair for availability.
- Please use the checklist that is available for use of kitchen and social hall.
- You may also want
to invite the Chair of the Kitchen Committee to your planning
meetings for information on kitchen use.
- We
have acquired a collection of dessert plates and glasses suitable to be
used in the dishwasher. So, if you are at the Fellowship and
would prefer a glass of water instead of a hot beverage or your
committee is serving treats needing a small plate, consider using
the dishes in the upper cabinet to the left of the sink. (If you
are willing to refill ice cube trays, feel free to get ice out of the
kitchen refrigerator)

Flowers for the Sunday Service:
Flowers for Sunday
mornings are an aesthetics committee responsibility; however,
since there is not enough money in the budget to purchase fresh flowers
every week, member donations are highly encouraged. The aesthetics
committee has two dried flower arrangements that are used when no fresh
flowers are donated.
How to Donate Flowers
There is a sign up sheet in the lower level hall way where anyone
can volunteer to bring flowers to a Sunday service. On the sheet,
there is a place to indicate if the flowers are in honor of a person or
event. Janet Stevens checks the sheet and includes the donor’s
name and the reason for the donation in the order of service. While the
winter display is in place, flowers are not needed, so the months of
December and January are not included on the sign up sheet.
Good to Know
There is a nice collection of vases under the sink across from the
upstairs coat rack. These can be borrowed (and returned, please)
if needed. Because our sanctuary has such a high ceiling, small
arrangements get “lost”, so taller flowers are more visible.
Flowering plants (in an attractive container, please) are also welcome.
A Last Resort
If you’d really, really like to donate flowers and aren’t able to get
out to buy them, arrange them or get them to church, call me and if
possible, a committee member or I will do it for you!
Karen Olson, Chair, Aesthetics Committee

Change of Address:
Be sure to let Janet Stevens, Office Manager, know if any information regarding your address, phone, e-mail, etc. has changed.
Need an Address?
Need an address, phone# or email address of a MVUUF congregant?
Look in the MVUUF directory first. If that fails, ask the office
manager. Please request by email (address is in the Sunday
bulletin, the MVUUF Directory, and the Uni-Sun..

We need your help with Sunday treats!
Each Sunday, everyone is invited to come downstairs after the service to socialize and have some tasty refreshments.
There
are still some dates in April, May and June where volunteers can sign
up to bring treats. Two people or families can certainly sign up
together. Beverages will always be available but we can only have other
refreshments if someone volunteers to bring them. If this is something
that you can do, we would appreciate your signing up for one of the
open dates. The pink signup sheet is currently on the counter where we
serve refreshments.
What is involved is bringing snacks for approximately 175 adults and
children and also 2 pints of half & half and setting them up for
after the Sunday service. (The coffee and hot water for tea will
already be made.) Also, you would need to stay until
approximately 12:45 to help with clean up. There are typically others
available who are familiar with the kitchen who will also help with the
clean up.
Thank you to all who sign up to bring those treats and stay afterwards to clean up.
If you need further information, contact Nancy Buckman.

MVUUF Art for Sale
Did you know that the Fellowship owns more than 40 pieces of
art that have been donated by patrons of the Jean Stephen Galleries
over the years? Many of these works are for sale at prices
ranging from $300 to $3,000.
We have an art inventory booklet (pdf) showing pictures and other information on each piece.
If you think you might be interested in purchasing one, let the Office
Manager (Janet Stevens) or the Finance Chair (Dale Lewellyn)
know. You can also see the booklet in the MVUUF office.
