CONGREGATIONAL NEWS
Our fellowship lost one of its most beloved members this month.  Phyllis Fairman died peacefully early in the morning on Saturday, August 14, 2010 with her husband George at her side. A service is planned for some time in the fall.  Our sincere and heartfelt wishes go to George and his family.  Phyllis will be greatly missed.

MVUUF member and UTS seminarian Kelly Hughes is on the same path as Bob. Kelly will be an intern at Associated Church in Owatonna this year.  We won’t see much of her, but when she is able to visit, give her a big hello and find out how she is navigating the waters of being a Unitarian Universalist  in a liberal Christian church.

Nan Corliss and Monica Williams, members of The Citizen Advocates for Homeless Youth announce the opening of Oasis for Youth Drop-In Center where youth will find connections to caring adults who will support their efforts to deal with the challenges they’re facing. This non-denominational program based at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington serves in the south suburban metro area from 2:30 to 5pm Monday through Thursday during the summer and Monday through Friday in the fall. The Center will begin operations with an all volunteer staff with a  goal to hire an experienced youth worker as soon as possible.

Want to experience an opera performance but don’t want to spend the money in case you hate it?  Here’s your chance – Don and Kathy Park have 2 free tickets to Orpheus and Eurydice at MN Opera in September.  If interested, call Kathy BEFORE September 13 at 612-281-5678 (open to anyone who has NOT attended MN Opera since Fall 2005).

THANK-YOUS
